JAE-X / Jay Mistry. I am an contemporary artist and producer.
I make contemporary Jazz and produce mid tempo dance music with jazz and funk influences.
Footwork, Hip-Hop, Synthfunk, Hyperpop and Jungle.
JAE-X focuses on bringing together jazz, funk influences electronically.
As a musician, I focus on two tabla styles, classical / banaras style and merging them with Indian classical heritage, western, eastern and experimental styles of music.
For Jay, in Tabla playing, the rhythm should move like water, like a wave. Even in aggressive rhythms, there’s a resonance, and softer tones in the drum that should sustain in a smooth manner.
The same idea goes into Synthfunk, R&B and midtempo music within JAE-X
